JN Times is now JN Tempo. Version 2.0.0 went live on 29 September 2026, and it is the first release under the new name.

JN Tempo helps recruitment agencies and teams that work with contractors keep the working week moving: contractor time, approvals, expenses and reporting in one place. V2.0.0 is also the name for a wider rollout that brings purchase orders and contractor billing into the same picture. This post sets out what is live today and what is still being completed.

A NEW NAME

JN Times has become JN Tempo. Nothing about how you sign in changes. Existing users use the same email address and password, and organisations, contractors, placements, timesheets and expenses are where they were left. Existing subscriptions carry on as they are, and the roles stay the same.

A NEW ORANGE AND NAVY EXPERIENCE

Available now

JN Tempo has a refreshed navy and orange design with light and dark themes. Contractor screens are designed for phones first, so contractors can clock in, record their week and submit from a phone browser without installing an app. Admins and managers can arrange their own dashboard widgets, and the navigation can be collapsed.

TIME TRACKING, APPROVALS AND CLOCK CORRECTIONS

Available now

Timesheet periods follow each placement, weekly or monthly. Clock in and out times are recorded by the server, with breaks. Each manager has one approval queue, and every returned timesheet carries a reason. Contractors are told by email either way.

Clock corrections are new in V2.0.0. If a contractor forgets to clock out or records the wrong time, they request a correction with a reason, and their manager approves or rejects it. Every change is kept in the history.

PURCHASE ORDERS

Part of the V2.0.0 rollout

Purchase order tracking is designed to link orders to contractors and placements, hold the original PDF, show remaining balances and expiry warnings, and give managers read or write permissions. It is not yet listed on the live product site.

CONTRACTOR BILLING AND EXPORTS

Available now

Excel and PDF exports cover timesheet lists with their statuses, individual timesheets and the contractor and manager directories. Exports follow your filters and date range, show exactly what they will contain before the file is generated, and follow your role. Amounts in different currencies are totalled separately. CSV exports remain available for payroll, and admins can build custom reports.

Part of the V2.0.0 rollout

Contractor billing with weekly and monthly schedules, payment due reminders, approved hours with approver details, rates, currencies, totals and optional purchase order references. Validated Xero compatible billing files are also in scope. JN Tempo does not make payments on your behalf.

ROLE AWARE DASHBOARDS

Available now

Dashboards put key figures first, then trends, then what needs action, and each figure explains what it counts. Admins, managers and contractors each see what their role allows.

Part of the V2.0.0 rollout

AI assistance on role aware dashboards for admins, managers and contractors is still being completed.

INVITATIONS AND ONBOARDING

Available now

New organisations sign up in three steps and verify their email address before the account is created. Everyone can sign in with an email address or a username. Admins invite contractors and managers by email and can see delivery status, resend or revoke. Welcome emails include a link to choose a password, so temporary passwords are no longer sent. Invited people complete their own details in short steps on any device.

Part of the V2.0.0 rollout

Inviting additional admins is still being completed.

PROFILES AND REPORTING

Available now

Admins can record engagement type, payment arrangement and IR35 status for each placement. These records are visible only to admins and keep a history of changes. JN Tempo stores what you enter. It does not work out, suggest or certify anyone's employment status, and it does not give legal or tax advice. Analytics summarise approved hours, pay and expenses by week, contractor and placement.

Part of the V2.0.0 rollout

Limited company details, optional bank details with restricted access and expanded profiles with contract dates are still being completed.

SUPPORT FEATURES

Available now

A short guided tour for each role, which anyone can restart from Help. Question mark buttons beside assignments, manager permissions, timesheet statuses, clock corrections, expenses, exports, the analytics layout and billing explain what each one does. Help and Support, frequently asked questions and published Terms, Privacy Notice and Data Processing Agreement are all available.

SECURITY IMPROVEMENTS

Each organisation's records are separated in the database with row level security, and access follows each person's role. Exports are created on request and are never stored at a public address. Card details are entered on Stripe's own pages and JN Tempo does not store card numbers. Further work on uploads and APIs is part of the rollout. Security work is ongoing, and no software can promise perfect security.

CONFIRMED PRICING

JN Tempo costs £79 a month, or £799 a year billed annually. Both include 20 contractor accounts. Extra capacity is £25 a month for each additional 20 contractors, billed monthly on either plan. The product site lists a 14 day free trial with no card needed to start. Check jntempo.jnhorizon.com for current pricing.
